Hoschton became an official “city” in 1891 and is located at the intersection of Peachtree Road and State Road 53, in Jackson County.  In 1878, a railroad was being developed to accommodate people traveling from Gainesville to Athens, Georgia.

During this time the Jackson County Hosch brothers negotiated a deal for the railroad to stop right in downtown Hoschton.  The main depot that was built still stands today and is a local tourist attraction.

The city of Hoschton built its first public school in 1884.  While there were only around 25 to 30 pupils boarding there at the time, it was the first of the graded schools in the state.  The historic site is now the home of the Masonic-Rockwell Lodge.  Throughout the years, the city has had a wide variety of industries make their home in Hoschton, including cotton gins and bottling companies for soft drinks.

Currently there are two banks, department stores and a local owned and operated drugstore.  Hoschton played an important role in poultry breeding in the state of Georgia by serving as a location for a large breeding hatchery.

Today, Jackson County is among the ten fastest growing counties in the United States.  The county has retained much of its natural beauty and has many scenic spots, including the Piedmont Region of Georgia.
